According to the order of the Headmaster of the College of Tourism Svetlana A. Antonova, and the schedule of the Committee of the Subject Cycle of Foreign Languages, the final stage of the College English Language Olympiad 2024 took place on the 1^st of March. The second stage was preceded by a serious qualifying round which took place in each department in November, so that the crème de la crème of foreign language experts could come to this Olympiad.

As always, the Olympiad participants were offered tasks in different types of language activities. Listening, lexico-grammatical tasks, essays and speaking.

This year, the creative methodic group decided to give the essay topics in advance for preparation, but the final topic was to be chosen just before the work started. In the end, the "Effect of computer games" topic was chosen. Both students and teachers agreed that pre-prepared topics were a good solution.

As far as the speaking was concerned, it was a dialogue on a topical issue, which the Olympians knew in advance, but they did not know with whom they would have to dialogue. The pairs for the dialogue were chosen at random: the students had to be from different faculties.

The winner of the final round of the College Olympiad in English was Anastasia Nikitina, group №220, taught by M.A. Gavrilova, Department of Tourism.

The 2nd place was shared by: Ivan Styopin, group №166, Ivan Yuriev, group № 165, taught by P.P. Kolisnichenko, Department of Commerce and Construction, and Timur Zhaborov, group No. 242 - teacher N.A. Streltsova, Restaurant Service Department.

3rd place was taken by Akshin Aliev, group №270 - teacher N.A. Streltsova, Restaurant Service Department.

Renata Andreeva, group No. 128 - teacher I. G. Shamrayeva, Department of Tourism.

The jury consisted of teachers from all departments of the college. The judges were strict but friendly. The teachers noted the high level of motivation and preparation of the students.
