The final of the Professional Skills Championship “Professionals” brought together in St. Petersburg representatives of authorities at various levels, educational organizations, enterprises, competitors, experts and spectators, as well as delegations from Azerbaijan, the Republic of Belarus, Vietnam, India, Kazakhstan, China, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia Arabia, Syria, Uganda and the Philippines.

In order to participate in the business and competitive program of the finals of Russia’s first Professional Skills Championship “Professionals”, a delegation of the Syrian Arab Republic, headed by Deputy Minister of Education Mahmoud Bani Marjeh, and a delegation of the Republic of Uganda, headed by the Deputy Minister of Education and Sports, arrived in St. Petersburg Muingo John Chrysostom.

At all events, the delegation from Uganda was accompanied by the leaders of the Center for Regional and International Cooperation, represented by Director Maria Rokhmaniyko and Deputy Director Nikolai Krutin. The program of stay for foreign guests also included getting to know our city and visiting leading educational organizations in St. Petersburg.

On November 27, 2023, guests from Syria and Uganda met with secondary vocational education at the College of Tourism of St. Petersburg. Guests were shown the material and technical base of the college and innovative workshops for the competencies “Cooking” and “Restaurant Service”, created within the framework of the federal project “Young Professionals (increasing the competitiveness of vocational education)” of the national project “Education”.

According to the director of the college, Svetlana Antonova words, the launch of innovative platforms made it possible to expand the portfolio of educational services of the institution, including vocational training programs and additional vocational education in accordance with the needs of the economy of St. Petersburg. Now, the training of highly qualified personnel is carried out using the latest educational laboratory and training and production equipment, as well as modern software.

“On the basis of the workshops, we carry out work to implement educational programs taking into account modern requirements for the quality of training of specialists. In addition, the introduction of such a material and technical base into the educational process provided the opportunity to conduct an independent assessment of the quality of education, including in the format of a demonstration exam, says Svetlana Aleksandrovna.

A separate block is the college’s work on organizing and holding championships of professional skills at various levels, training competitors and experts. Participants and experts of regional and federal championships train at the new workshops, and prize-winners come from here. Among those who met the guests of honor was a college teacher, winner of the EuroSkills 2021 championship German Afanasyev.

Let us remind you that the final of the Professional Skills Championship was held in St. Petersburg from November 24 to 28, 2023. The final competition events were held in 35 of the most popular competencies for the main age category and 20 among juniors. Competitions in 28 competencies were held at the main site - the ExpoForum Convention and Exhibition Center, and another 7 - at additional sites in St. Petersburg. 687 competitors took part in the competitive events, including representatives of 62 constituent entities of the Russian Federation, 69 participants from leading enterprises of the country and 45 people from other countries.

The All-Russian championship movement in professional skills, which includes the “Professionals” championship, was relaunched in our country at the end of 2022. Key features are a focus on import substitution and restarting the country's industry through the formation of new competencies among students, schoolchildren and teachers, as well as partnerships with leading companies and enterprises.
