Finnish delegation included masters of touristic subjects, teachers of the Russian language and students specializing in “Tourism” and studying Russian as the foreign language.

The visiting program was based on wishes of the guests who visited St.-Petersburg for the first time. English-speaking students of our college helped to organize different events of the program. Our guests were accommodated in the “Youth” hotel which is the training centre of the College. Students from “Hotel Service” department had diligently prepared the rooms in the hotel for the guests, wrote welcome letters, created colourful booklets about St.-Petersburg in Finnish and English so that our Finnish colleagues would feel the hospitable atmosphere of our college.

During the visit teachers and students of the College SAMI took part in special seminar “Professional Growth of Students in Hospitality Industry”.

At the first meeting in the conference-hall of the “Youth” hotel our students told to the guests from Finland about departments of our college and student life. Students also told in which hotels, restaurants and travel agencies of St.-Petersburg they had practical training. Besides, our guests watched special presentation devoted to such events as academic competitions, conferences, professional skills competitions, workshops, etc. in which our students participate annually. Innovation activity of our College was presented by Maria V. Mikhailovskaya, the expert of Resource centre of the College. Finnish students also told about Savonlinna Vocational College SAMI and about educational system of Finland as well.

Within the framework of visiting program Finnish students took part in business game “St.-Petersburg Guided Tour: Creating Technologies” organized by students from the “Tourism” department.

“Lycee Travel” company, the training workshop of College of Tourism, and the first year students organized sightseeing tour around St.-Petersburg for the delegation from Finland.

Our guests also visited “Restaurant Service” department.

They also took part in master class and watched presentation “Traditions of Russian Hospitality and History of Russian Cuisine”.

In the end of the program delegation from Savonlinna Vocational College SAMI visited gala concert “Spring – Love – Smile”, traditional show in the framework of Foreign Languages Decade, the annual event of our College.
